The Coastal Bend Recovery Group received a grant of $250,000 to work with case managers to identify an estimated 8,000 households and refer them to community resources for further assistance; purchase materials for and coordinate the repair or rebuild more than 100 homes; and, to initiate an initiative to address additional unmet needs in the area.
APRIL 3, 2018 [SINTON, TX] – The Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group (CBDRG), a collaborative network comprised of non-profit, faith based and government organizations working as long-term recovery partners to assist the community with disaster recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey, is proud to announce the receipt of a $250,000 grant from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund. CDP provides strategic recovery funding and guidance to organizations working in areas affected by disaster.
“This grant will help provide stability for communities who have and continue to deal with tremendous devastation and an overall lack of human and financial resources,” said Sally Ray, Director, CDP Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund. “This collaborative effort among counties is exactly the kind of strategic initiative that is required for a more effective recovery.”
Currently serving the six affected counties in the Coastal Bend, CBDRG will utilize the funds to expand case management services and increase home repair construction projects throughout the affected region.
“The CDP grant will further leverage the momentum we’ve experienced in recent months,” said Warren Phipps, CBDRG executive director. “These funds will be critical to achieving our long-term recovery objectives and helping our coastal neighbors not simply to survive, but thrive.”
“What an incredible blessing it is to receive these grant dollars from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy,” expressed Rev. Beth Tatum, CBDRG board president. “With so much disaster across the globe in the past 18 months, we are grateful for the support of those near and far which allows CBDRG to continue offering hope after disaster through our client services.”
