About
Target Hunger serves thousands of vulnerable households whose residents suffer from food insecurity each month. In 2019, Target Hunger distributed 1.8 million meals to children, seniors and families to help alleviate hunger in Houston's impoverished northeast region.
This distribution of nutritious food is accomplished through multiple food pantries, educational food fairs, an extensive senior delivery program, mobile distribution sites and emergency food assistance. Target Hunger's Willie H. & Gladys R. Goffney Community Garden serves as a productive green space in Kashmere Gardens that welcomes residents and volunteer groups and produces more than 6,000 pounds of produce organically.
Mission Statement
The mission of Target Hunger is to alleviate hunger and its root causes in the Houston neighborhoods we serve. What began as a small, community based grass roots organization in 1989, has grown into one of the largest organizations that distributes food to families in need in the Greater Houston area.
