Role Description
SelfSoulLiberate is seeking a dedicated and thoughtful Volunteer Blog Writer to support the Communications and Marketing Team. The individual in this role will be responsible for crafting high-quality, engaging blog content that reflects the organization’s mission and values. The blog writer will play a key role in expanding our digital presence, elevating community voices, and fostering greater awareness of mental health and wellness through a culturally sensitive lens.
Key Responsibilities
- Compose one to two original blog posts per month (typically 500–800 words each), aligned with organizational themes and voice.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team and Executive Director to develop content ideas and editorial topics.
- Conduct basic research or interviews with stakeholders, staff, or community members to support storytelling and content development.
- Edit and revise content based on internal feedback and publishing guidelines.
- Assist in adapting written blog content for use in newsletters, email campaigns, and social media, and organization website.
- Ensure all content maintains a consistent tone, adheres to brand guidelines, and reflects the mission of SelfSoulLiberate.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills, preferably with experience in blogs, articles, or digital storytelling.
- An interest in mental health, health equity, social justice, youth wellness, or nonprofit work.
- Ability to write with clarity, cultural sensitivity, and authenticity.
- Experience working with OneDrive and content platforms such as WordPress is preferred but not required.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet monthly deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Personal or professional connection to BIPOC communities is highly valued and considered an asset.
