Food Rescue Driver | Help reduce food waste and fight hunger

Volunteer Position: Food Rescue Driver (Dallas & Collin Counties)

Organization: R&R Ministries/R&R Skills Training Academy

Location: Dallas & Collin Counties, TX

Schedule: 4-hour shifts, 23 days per week

Start Date: OngoingCommitment: Ongoing, minimum of 3 months preferred

Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and reliable volunteers to serve as Food Rescue Drivers to help reduce food waste and fight hunger in our community. As a Food Rescue Driver, you will collect surplus food donations from grocery stores, restaurants, and other partners, and deliver them directly to R&R Skills Training Academy sites or local nonprofits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pick up donated food from designated locations across Dallas and Collin Counties
• Safely transport and deliver food to partner agencies
• Maintain accurate records of pickups and deliveries
• Communicate any issues or delays with the volunteer coordinator
• Follow proper food handling and safety procedures

Requirements:

• Must have a valid drivers license and access to a personal, reliable vehicle
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (with or without assistance)
• Comfortable using a smartphone (for routing and tracking purposes)
• Punctual, responsible, and able to work independently
• Passionate about reducing food waste and supporting your local community
