About this Opportunity
Are you a compassionate seamstress or quilter who wants to make a lasting difference in someone's life? We are seeking a skilled and caring Hospice Seamstress to craft meaningful memory gifts-such as teddy bears, pillows, or quilts-from the clothing of our patients who have passed. These keepsakes are cherished by families and provide comfort in times of grief.
Responsibilities:
Use donated garments (often favorite shirts, pajamas, or robes) to create custom memory items.
Work with our bereavement or volunteer team to ensure sensitive handling and return of items.
Maintain confidentiality and compassion in all interactions.
Create items within a reasonable time frame (2-3 weeks per item, depending on complexity).
Qualifications:
Intermediate to advanced sewing skills; ability to work independently.
Your own sewing machine and materials (some supplies may be reimbursed or provided).
Attention to detail and respect for the emotional value of the items.
Experience with quilting, embroidery, or keepsake sewing is a plus.
Time Commitment:
Flexible hours. You choose how many items you can commit to each month. Most work is done from your own home.
Benefits:
Bring comfort and healing to grieving families.
Use your talents in a truly meaningful way.
Join a community of volunteers committed to dignity and compassion.
